How do I bid for a property?
Before you can make a bid, you already need to have applied and be accepted on to our waiting list for rehousing. Once you are regisitered with us all you need to do is:
  • Find a property. Just click on the “Properties” button, and then click on the area you are interested in. You can also search by the size or type of property you are looking for.
  • Click on the Bid button and you will be asked to Log in to make your bid – you will need your application number and your password to do this. If you cannot remember your application number or password you can contact us by email : lettings@aldwyck.co.uk, telephone: 01582 869300 or by using the Contact button on the menu
  • Enter your password. To start with, this will be set as your date of birth, but to make it more secure you will be asked to change it to something which only you will know.
  • You will then be able to bid – ie, tell us which properties you would like to be considered for. You are able to make up to two bids per advert and to ensure your bids are registered against your name we ask you to log in each time you make a bid.

If you are not currently on our waiting list you will need to complete an application form so that we can assess your housing situation. Click here to get a form.

How often will new properties be advertised?

We will update the details on this website every two weeks, and you will have a week to let us know which properties you are interested in.

 What is a bidding cycle?

The bidding starts on the day properties are first advertised and carries on until the day we stop taking bids.
Properties are advertised from a Thursday and applicants can bid for properties from that day through to the following Wednesday at 12 pm. There will then be a week's break while those properties are offered before the next advert comes out on the following Thursday.

 Who gets the property?

If we have more than one applicant that has bid, we choose the person who has been on our waiting list the longest.

We then check that this person or family is suitable for the property (for example, we would not offer a 3 bedroom house to a single person). If the person or family are suitable, we make arrangements straight away for them to view the property. If they are happy with it, then the property is theirs! If they don’t wish to accept, or they are not suitable, we will go to the second person on the list, and so on until the property is accepted.

In certain, very limited circumstances, some applicants are given exceptional priority because of the seriousness of their situation (for example they are in danger in their current home). These applicants are referred to as Management Transfers. If someone in this position applies for one of the properties they will be considered before anyone else. If two people with exceptional priority apply, we will offer to the one who has been on the list longest.

How will I know whether I have been successful?

If you are at the top of the shortlist you will hear from us within 5 working days of the advert closing. If you do not hear from us within this time then unfortunately you have not been successful for that particular property.

You can also click here to see the latest information about vacancies and who they were offered to. Although we won’t give out applicants’ names, we show how many people have shown an interest in each property and how long the successful applicant was on our list. In this way you can see which types of properties are in high demand and also those which you might have a greater chance of being offered. We will also show the properties which we have had to offer to nominations from the local council’s waiting list (this applies to at least 50% of our vacancies).
